Speaking Test,  part 2 Candidates are given the opportunity to speak for one minute withoutSpeaking Test, part 2 Candidates are given the opportunity to speak for one minute without interruption. Each candidate is asked to compare and contrast two colour photographs, commenting on the pictures and giving some personal reaction to them. They are not required to describe the photographs in detail. Candidates are expected to show their ability to organise their thoughts and ideas, and express themselves coherently in appropriate language. Candidates should pay attention while their partner is speaking, as they are asked to comment briefly (for about 20 seconds) after their partner has spoken. Candidates should be made aware, however, that they should not speak during their partner’s long turn.

First say what these 2 pictures have in common (Usually, it is part of the task – so, listen to it very attentively, and later try to say it in your own words): Alright. No doubt, these two pictures show… ( 1 sentence ) Identify the situation (event) and briefly describe what you see in picture 1: In the first photo, … ( 2 -3 short sentences ) Express supposition using modal verbs and trying to answer the question: This photo must have been taken… ( 1 sentence ) Express your personal attitude towards the subject trying to answer the question. You may use “I wish…” phrase and a short argument. ( 1 -2 short sentences )
