History of the University of Nottingham dates back to the school for adult education founded in 1798 In 1873, the University of Cambridge began to read at this school university courses (University Extension Lectures) The history of the university begins with the founding of University College Nottingham in 1881 as part of the University of London. In 1881 building in neo-Gothic style on Shakespeare Street opened Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany. There were only 4 professors - literature, physics, chemistry and natural sciences. In 1920 he moved from the University of Nottingham in the center of a large campus on the outskirts of the city (University Park).
