Dr de Leeuw’s research is situated, broadly, at the intersection of cultural and historical geography. It draws heavily from ongoing discussions in (post)colonial theory and writings by Indigenous theorists, artists, and writers. Her research with the Northern Medical Program and the National Collaborating Centre for Aboriginal Health aims to expand understandings about colonialism (past and present), particularly as it was undertaken geographically, as a social determinant of Aboriginal peoples’ health.
