  MY ATHLETIC GRANDPA Hello, everybody! I knew about this project, when I watched Track-and-Field MY ATHLETIC GRANDPA Hello, everybody! I knew about this project, when I watched Track-and-Field World Championship held in Moscow. I was so impressed by the runners and jumpers that I wanted to write about such famous sportsmen as Usain Bolt or Elena Isinbaeva. Then I thought why not to write about Ivan Shtyl? We come from the same parts! But…a lot of people will write about them. And then how can the world know about one very talented sportsman, not very famous maybe, but very dear to me? And I decided to tell you about my athletic grandad!grandpa among his grandchildren: -) My grandpa’s family. Now it is bigger! I’m only 4))

  My grandpa’s name is Perkov Anatoliy Ivanovich.  He was born in 1949 in My grandpa’s name is Perkov Anatoliy Ivanovich. He was born in 1949 in Zabaikalye where he has lived all his life. He was a smart, friendly and active boy. He liked playing football and was the best goal-keeper in the yard. Like any guy in his village Tolya dreamt of a good pair of trainers and a new football. I was lucky to find my grandpa’s Diplomas for his sport progress at school! Here they are: in the sports camp going on a hiking tour riding his bike 2 nd prize for tennis 1 st prize for football

  After finishing his school, my grandad entered the Polytechnic Institute in Irkutsk. The future After finishing his school, my grandad entered the Polytechnic Institute in Irkutsk. The future engineer was a good student. His serious sports career began there, too. He was a player for the Institute Volleyball Team and took part in all track and field competitions held in the city. Grandpa was an excellent runner for short and long distances. my grandad is beating the block handsome and talented! and he has his whole life in front of him! BUT! !!

They have been married for 41 years and I don’t know anybody as happy as they are. Here on the photo my grandparents are with their three daughters. My mum is just 7! for skiing for swimming for running for relay-racing. Grandad’s sports career was a success, too. He played volleyball for the Town Team, basketball for his Factory Team, was a good runner and skier. He is well-known in the town Pervomayskiy where he lives. I took photos of some of his awards:

His badge in 10 km races young and talented. In August, 1989 there was The First All-Union Workers’ Sports Festival held in Moscow. Only six best sportsmen were sent there from my grandpa’s place. Of course, my grandad was among them! He was happy to represent Zabaikalye in the capital of our country. He took part in 10 km races, relay-races, table-tennis and volleyball.

  I am proud to have such a cool grandpa.  He taught his daughters I am proud to have such a cool grandpa. He taught his daughters to love sports. Now his daughters teach their children to love sports. We will do the same! Sport is great! It helps us to be enduring, strong, healthy, active and optimistic. And it all must start in the family. My dad and I have conquered the mount! Hurray! I l ve sports!
