On the 5 th of September, 1800 the English in their turn occupied the capital of Malta, Valetta, and hoisted there their flag. Alexander Ball became the military governor of Malta.
Independence and Republic Malta achieved its independence on 21 September 1964 after intense negotiations with the United Kingdom.
