It is celebrated on the Sunday after Good Friday. In Germany, the Easter bunny (der Osterhase) hides chocolates, painted eggs (bemalte Eier) and small presents on Easter Sunday. The Easter eggs are decorated with many colours and patterns. They are hidden in the garden and children go for an egg hunt on Easter Sunday Now look at the items and select the ones which represent this celebration. It takes place in February or March, approximately one week before Ash Wednesday. People dress up in fancy dress and watch parades. They try to catch sweets thrown from colourful, decorated wagons. People eat pastries called Krapfen or Berliner during the Karneval season but also on New Year's Eve. The tasty doughnuts are filled with jam. Decorated trees (der Weihnachtsbaum), presents and huge amounts of food are very important at Christmas. Die Gans A typical dish is goose. Stollen - a fruit and nut loaf - biscuits and gingerbread are common treats. Santa Claus (der Weihnachtsmann), or in some parts of Germany the Christ Child, brings presents on the evening of the 24 th December. He places them under the Christmas tree! Pupils take turns rolling the dice. The first pupil to get a 6 has to put on all the clothes as quickly as possible. Once wearing all items, the pupil can try cutting a piece of chocolate through the newspaper and then eat the piece using the knife and fork! The other pupils take turns rolling the dice again.
