Las Fallas • An annual festival that ends on “Dia de San José” March Las Fallas • An annual festival that ends on “Dia de San José” March 19 th. (aka Father’s Day) • All year, groups that are called “Fallas” (similar to the clubs for the Mummer’s) work to build monument structures that are satirical and critical of society. • All monuments (called “Fallas”) are then judged and awarded prizes. “Ninots” are miniature monuments that also win prizes. • Other activities such as the: desperta, mascleta, crema, desfile de flores, etc are part of the celebrations leading up to the 19 th. (the crema is on the night of the 19 th)
