DAVID HERBERT LAWRENCE Life and works
David Herbert Lawrence; September 11, 1885, Eastwood, County Nottingempshir. He was the fourth child of an uneducated miner and former school teacher. Tense relations between the parents formed the basis for many of his earlier works. In 1898, Lawrence received a scholarship to Nottingham High School, and in 1906 completed his education at the Pedagogical Faculty of the University of Nottingham. Taught in primary schools Croydon, where he began writing poetry and short stories. In 1907 he won the newspaper stories Nottingham Guardian.
His first novel, "The White Peacock» (The White Peacock), was published in 1911, several weeks after the death of his mother, after which he was seriously ill. Lawrence gave up teaching and wrote "The intruder borders» (The Trespasser, 1912). This was followed by the novel "Sons and Lovers» (Sons and Lovers, 1913) - his first serious work, which was semiautobiographical account of his youth and ambiguous relationship with their parents. In January 1912, Lawrence met Frieda von Richthofen (Frieda von Richthofen) - wife of his former teacher and mother of three children. They immediately fell in love with, and in May went to Germany. After two trips to Germany and Italy, they returned to England married in July 1914. From the beginning it was a stormy marriage, and he inspired Lawrence to write a collection of poems, "Look! We did! » (Look! We Have Come Through, 1917). Even abroad, Lawrence began work on the interior design "Sisters. " Over time, this project has included two of his most famous novel, "Rainbow» (The Rainbow, published in September 1915, but banned in November) and "Women in Love» (Women in Love, completed in 1917, but issued a private only in 1920 in New York).
Poor health sharply deteriorated in Lawrence in 1930. In the last months of his life he wrote many poems, articles and essays. After treatment in a sanatorium, in May 1930 he died of tuberculosis in the city of Vence in France.
