To register you must be a US Citizen and 18 years of age. Just bring in a current form of ID, Drivers license, State ID or Passport. If born outside of the US, you need to also bring in Naturalization certificate. Your registration will be sent in to the Cook County Clerk for processing and receipt of registration card is 2 to 4 weeks. It only takes a minute, don’t let an election go by without YOUR vote. Passport Service In an effort to better serve our community, The Village of Stone Park is now an official Passport Acceptance Facility for the United States Department of State. As an acceptance facility, we are only able to accept new applications and renewals which are then sent out for processing. No personal checks accepted. There is a separate, non-refundable $100 administrative fee. Agreement signing is by appointment only. Just a reminder that there are projects that will require a permit from the Village to perform. Here are the steps to follow to obtain a permit. Step 1: Obtain a Building Permit Application from Village Hall. Step 2: Properly fill out the applications with the items that pertain to the type of work that will be done. Step 3: If a Company will be doing the job, then the company will be required to do the following: 1. A Certificate of Insurance, 3. A $10, 000 bond and. . . 4. Step 4: Complete an Out of Town Business Application and return it with. . 2. A $100 fee VILLAGE SERVICES Garbage & Recycling pick-up day in Stone Park is on Thursdays. Our contractor is Allied Waste out of Melrose Park. Recycled objects that are not paper are to be placed in the designated “Green Bins” to insure proper handling. Yard waste must also be placed in paper yard waste bags, which can be purchased at your local hardware store. Large items such as furniture and appliances will be picked up the first Thursday of every month. To avoid messy alleys, garbage must be placed out for pickup on the night before garbage day. Large yard refuge such as tree branches are picked up by the Public Works Department. Call the Village Hall during business hours to schedule a pick-up. Billing for these services can be found on your Water Bill. Bring in the Plat of Survey - if required Step 5: Building Inspector will review the permit request for approval and set a fee. This may require the inspector to visit the site or set up a visit with the owner. Step 6: Keeping our Community Clean and Safe are just a couple of our main goals and we need YOU to reach them! Owner will be called to come pick up permit Step 7: Notify Building Department, within 24 hours, of when work is complete. Following these steps will assure both the owner and the Village, the best results, that a quality job is being done and done up to code. Garage/Yard Sales Having a sale? Before having a sale , you will need a permit. First pick your date(s), then go to Village Hall for your permit and list of rules. Permits are good for three consecutive days and are limited to three times a year per address. Fee for permit is $10. 00. Keep up to date with Village News! Water, sewer and garbage is billed on a bi-monthly basis and can be paid at the Village Hall Office. Meters are physically read by our Public Works Department unless weather conditions restrict us. Water billing questions or complaints can be directed to 708 -345 -5550. Street Cleaning To keep our streets clean, Public works will be cleaning the streets year round, as well as to conduct repairs, improvements and snow removal. To accomplish this Residents will be required to move their vehicles on Tuesday’s & Wednesday’s from 9 AM to 3 PM on a year round basis. On Tuesday’s Residents will be allowed to park on the east side of the street and on Wednesday’s on the west. Also, please keep in mind that there are designated snow routes throughout the Village that will require you to move your vehicle when snow is 2” high or more. Need to make a payment? Your property must be free of debris, as well as a control of weeds and lawn height. Items on your home that may be hazardous to your family as well as others must be addressed in a timely manner. Residential and Commercial Code Enforcers are the Village’s authorized personnel that assure maintenance throughout the Village. If you have questions pertaining to home or property issues, please call the Village Hall to speak to Code Enforcement. Fences As part of the beautification vision for the Village, erection of fences in the front part of a property are no longer permitted. Fencing will only be permitted from the front side of the home to the apron of the rear. Homes that currently have fencing in the front of their homes will be grandfathered in. Those fences may be repaired or replaced, although, all fences must be maintained and free of hazards. Permit for a new or replacement fence must be obtained through the Clerk’s Office. Occupancy As the maintenance of your home is important, just as well is the number of individuals that occupy a home. Occupancy is first determined by assessment of either a single family or multi-family dwelling and by the amount of SF in a home. For health and safety reasons our Village follows BOCA regulations pertaining to home occupancy and building safety. Following these regulations will assure that the Residents of the Village are living in the best possible conditions. Home owners and Landlords will be cited for violation of these regulations. Pets To many people, pets are just as much a family member as oneself. Assuring the safety of your pet(s), family and neighbors is a pet owners responsibility. All pets in the Village must obtain a license (pet tag). Licenses(pet tag) are available at Village Hall at no cost. To obtain this, your must provide a rabies number that is issued by a licensed Veterinarian. Large pets or those considered dangerous by nature, must be muzzled at all times that the pet is not on your property and is on Public property. These pets while on your property must be kept in either a fenced area or leashed. The number of pets allowed per household in the Village is 3 dogs/cats. Consideration to your neighbors and community will be expected when curbing your pet. Licensing of your pets will also serve as a unit of Id, in the case that your pet is lost and then found. Have questions pertaining to code? Contact our Village Code Department Michael Paige New and current Residents must have all of their vehicles (to include, motorcycles and Rv’s) of which are garaged in the Village, registered to the Village of Stone Park. Registration for vehicles and personal information, such as Drivers License and ID can be performed at the Secretary of State. The most convenient Secretary of State is located off of Mannheim Road in the Melrose Park Crossing Shopping Center, by Mannheim and North. Village Vehicle Sticker Parking regulations have been established, as an effort to control the parking situations throughout the Village. Overnight visitor parking is permitted by advising the Police Department of an overnight guest. To do this call the Police non-emergency number at 708344 -2134 by 10 PM. Parking citations are issued to those not on the “Call In” list. Guests will be allowed to call in their vehicles up to 12 times a year per guest vehicle, as well as those that have just moved in. Overnight parking of Commercial vehicles is not allowed on Village residential streets. For Street Cleaning Parking regulations, refer to “Street Cleaning” in the Village Services Section.
